West End Building

Welcome to West End Middle

Excellence in education is what West End Middle School endeavors to achieve. As an International Baccalaureate school, our goal is to awaken the intelligence of students and teach them to recognize relationships between school and the world outside school by combining knowledge, experience, community service and critical observation.

Additionally, we provide students with a high-quality educational program for developing, improving and applying knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the diverse world in which we live. Just a few of our academic offerings include arts, STEM, blended learning and GATE, the district's program for gifted learners. Students also have many opportunities to develop beyond academics. Among our most popular programs are band, competition math team and lacrosse.

Our beautiful, historic campus sits at the edge of Elmington Park. Designed by Donald Southgate, a prominent Nashville architect, the school's red brick building is one of Nashville's best examples of Colonial Revival- and Georgian Revival-style architecture. The building has a clock tower that is approximately 150 feet tall and houses a 1,000-pound bell that chimes at the top of each hour.

West End recently underwent a $7.6 million renovation. Well over $1 million was spent on updating the electrical system and the infrastructure for technology, including cameras for safety and Wi-Fi throughout the building. We are currently working to provide a 1:1 student/computer ratio.
